Charlotte, you may be right. I have read the small print on the bottle and, although it is specifically shellfish-free, and people I know speak of it as vegetarian, it doesn't seem to make that claim on the bottle. The product I use is the Solgar Extra Strength Glucosamaine Chondroitin MSM (shellfish-free) 60 tablets sugar and starch free, as shown in the picture in my article.

For the purposes of accuracy, until I can establish otherwise by perhaps talking with the health shop that supplies it for me, I'll take the reference to vegetarian out of my article.

I have to confess that, although my brother is vegetarian and practically vegan, I'm not, so the fact it is shellfish-free and seems to keep me running around the tennis court like a spring lamb is for me the most important thing.

Thanks for your thoughtful and useful comment.

Dear Rob
I was interested to read your article.
I too have a shell fish allergy , and am vegetarian; so am struggling to find a vegetarian source of Glucosamine and Chondroitin that will suit me. I know you can get vegetarian glucosamine but I thought the chondroitin could only be sourced from cartilege which meant it had to be from an animal or fish origin? Could you tell me the name of the product you have found please, I would love to get hold of some. Many thanks for your help.

Having suffered from joints that seemed to have a life of their own for years, glucosamine and chondroitin was a life-saver and got me back to playing tennis too :-)
